Welcome to the page to Elect Adam Nelson for 94th President of the Michigan Junior Chamber!
Jaycees inspire me! – not because I know who they are, but for what they do! Join me in our next saga of the journey as we celebrate the Jaycees, inspire your legacy and our communities, and prove to the world we are the best leaders!
Provide Connections – Encourage Interaction in Unique Ways – Empower to Reinvent into the Future
Our vision for all of us Jaycees and the Michigan Junior Chamber will take us into the future. We will reinforce our foundation and build the plan that will inspire us to create Impact Now! Our legacy will come from connecting, engaging, and evolving our members today.
Promote and Integrally Market the Jaycees
One key role of the Michigan Junior Chamber is to champion and advocate for our chapter members to the world, yet not forget to keep our focus on the local. We need to raise awareness about the great impact Jaycees make by leveraging the clout of the whole state for the individual Jaycee. One such element is to take our social media and website to the next level by improving visual layouts, overall copy, and specific calls-to-action. The result will be better connections, more members, engaged and activated Jaycees, making impacts in our communities to evolve our impact today.
Improve Process of Signup & Renewals
With national changes in dues structure and the need to keep the Jaycees accessible to all, the process to sign-up and renew members needs to be convenient and easy. We need to remove as many barriers as possible to our membership process. Making it easy to sign up and easy to renew means we can focus more on the ways we keep our members engaged and the benefits of membership, and less on the process.
Activate Jaycees – be Engaged
Encourage Jaycees to be involved in our chapters and be a part of the community through meaningful volunteer work. We have a fantastic vitality and have built a solid foundation with a growing membership. Now is the time, like an architect, to design our plans and put into practice our next overlay of engagement for continuing the build to the future.
Create Strategic Partners for Individual Development
By developing a Junior Chamber Mentoring program framework we can create strategic partnerships to build-up Jaycees to be active citizens with critical self-confidence, strong networks, and developed skills for impactful careers. The Jaycees are self-directed individuals with great motivation to make immediate impacts to the world around us. Providing a roadmap for individual improvement and social connections will provide an unending source of inspiration, discovering innovation and new ideas.
Retain our Momentum
It’s exciting to have a GROWING membership! We’re investing time, effort, and money recruiting members, but now we need to convince members to re-enroll in our organization. Activated members are more likely to stay in our organization. The retention rates of our membership grow every year that a member stays. After one year, a member has a 50% chance of staying in the organization until they age out, after two years, that rate grows to 65%. That rate becomes 85% after three years. Membership renewal process is an ongoing endeavor that presents unique challenges – and opportunities. We need to have an on-boarding plan to show first-time members the value of the Jaycees so they don’t slip through the retention cracks. And remember to say ‘Thank you’ and ‘You’re Welcome’ to those new and long-time members to keep them coming back for more!
Develop an Alumni & Supporter Base
We need to extend the outreach of the Michigan Jaycees; the development of an alumni and supporter program would create an active engaged group for our chapters to connect with. We need an immediate change to our prehistoric information system tracking our extended family, present the opportunity for them to be more involved, and a way for them to be able to give back.
Be More Tribe, Less Community
More and more our potential, new, and current members are associating themselves with groups based on shared values and interests, rather than a particular established community. We need to evolve for the future. We don’t need to lose our established community identities to improve how the Jaycees are relevant and create more connections between people. Designing opportunities for people to connect will allow people to drop their guard, feel more involved, and give them the ability to discover innovative new ideas.
Be an Incubator of Ideas and Ways to Create Impact Now!
We need to be better at communicating our ideas, communicating how we’ve found success in being a Jaycee, and providing the tools to our members so they can create Impact Now! The average length of time a Jaycee is a member before heading into a leadership role is shorter and shorter. Continuing to provide strong seminars and state-wide opportunities for individual training will give Jaycees the tools to lead today – not having to wait years to make their legacy reality.
